Who can join Scouts?

Boys and girls aged 10 to 14 years of age.


When do Scouts meet?

1st Bedworth has two Scouts Troops one just for girls, and one just for boys.

* Tuesday, 7.00pm to 9.00pm – Girls only – Haddon Troop

* Wednesday, 7.00pm -9.00pm – Boys only- Wilson Troop

They also have the opportunity to attend optional activities on some other evenings and on some weekends


How much does Scouts cost?

Weekly subscriptions for membership of 1st Bedworth is £2.00 per week for all sections.

This fee covers activity insurance, programme materials, badges and helping to heat, light and maintain the building. It is still payable even if a member does not attend the Troop NightPlease also be aware that the optional activities other than the Troop Night meeting may be at extra cost.


What do Scouts do?

Scouts have a lot of fun, learn lots of new things and take part in adventurous activities. They have the chance to gain badges and awards in recognition of the effort made by each youngster at their own level of development and understanding.The programme includes a wide selection of activities with the emphasis on the outdoors and adventure.


Meetings are run by a trained, experienced, Scout Leader who is supported by a team of Assistant Scout Leaders and helpers who have all been vetted by an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks.


What do Scouts wear?

As with the other sections of 1st Bedworth, Scouts wear a uniform to Troop Nights and some activities.

* A smart teal green coloured shirt,

* Royal blue necka’

* Black or grey trousers.

* Black, navy blue or dark grey socks

* Black boots or shoes.


The shirt is available from us and costs £17.50. The necka’ is presented free when the Scout is invested, and most Scouts wear their school trousers and shoes with their uniform.

  • Beavers
    Starts: 6:00 pm

    Description: Beavers should arrive at the Scout Hut between 5.45pm & 5.55pm and go straight to the Large Hall
    All Beavers need to wear Uniform
    All Beavers should pay their £2 Subs
    The meeting starts at 6pm and finishes at 7pm
  • Scouts
    Starts: 7:00 pm
    Ends: September 30, 2014 - 9:00 pm
    Location: Scout Hut
    Description: Haddon Troop Nights
    Every Tuesday Night(except 23rd & 30th December)
    7.00pm to 9.00pm at the Scout Hut

    The monthly themes are
    October – Creativity
    November – Community
    December – Global

    All Scouts should arrive at the Scout Hut between 6.45pm and 6.55pm and go straight to the Small Hall and ‘book in’ with the Duty Leader.

    Scouts can order their ‘Tuck’ between 6.45pm and 7.00pm.

    Scouts need to wear smart & correct uniform to all Troop Nights (except 18th December when fancy dress or party clothes should be worn.)

    Correct uniform means all of the following:

    Uniform shirt not blue group T shirts. Cubs attending Scouts should wear their Cub sweatshirt until they have a Scout uniform shirt.

    Royal blue 1st Bedworth Necka with suitable woggle

    Either the official Scout Association activity trousers or shorts , or black, navy blue or dark grey ‘school type’ full length trousers or shorts which are not tight fitting and do not have large logo’s.

    Plain black, plain navy , or plain dark grey socks but not ‘trainer’ socks or similar

    Black shoes or boots with black laces.

    Scouts also need to bring clothes to change into for activities. These are sometimes called ‘change down’ clothes.

    Scouts will need all of the following:

    Old trousers or shorts

    Old shirt

    Old trainers or similar

    Old sweatshirt , jumper or similar if the weather is cold

    Waterproof coat if the weather is, or likely to be, wet

    All items of uniform and activity clothing must be clearly marked with the owners name or initials
  • Cubs
    Starts: 7:00 pm
    Ends: September 30, 2014 - 8:30 pm
    Location: Scout Hut
    Description: Hopkins Pack Night

    Pack Nights start at 7.00pm and finish at 8.30pm.

    Cubs should arrive between 6.45pm and 6.55pm and go straight to the Small Hall to sign in.

    All Cubs must wear Cub Sweatshirt, royal blue necka, official activity trousers/shorts or black, dark grey trousers/shorts, black,dark grey or navy blue socks , black boots or shoes

    The parents or carer of any Cub who cannot attend a Pack Night should let Maxine ( mobile no 07736320340) or Woody (07710113291) know before the start of the meeting

    The themes for Pack Night are:

    30th (sept) Disability awareness
    7th- Visit from Guide Dogs
    14th- Games Night 21st & 23rd– Visit Old Meeting Hall
    28th- Halloween style fancy Dress Party

    4th- Bonfire night
    11th– Traversing, Indoor archery & Cross Bows
    18th– Remembrance Poppies
    25th-100 years

    2nd – St Andrews
    9th - Christmas Crafts
    16th– Christmas Party, Fancy dress optional, bring snacks if you want to
    23rd– Christmas Holiday – No Meeting
    31st Dec– Christmas Holiday – No Meeting
