When do Scouts meet?

Scout Page 1

1st Bedworth has two Scout Troops:

  • Tuesdays, 7.00pm to 9.00pm – Haddon Scouts
  • Wednesdays, 7.00pm to 9.00pm – Wilson Scouts

Occasionally there are optional activities on other evenings and at weekends.

How much does Scouts cost?

We charge a membership subscription fee of £12.00 per month. This membership fee covers activity insurance, programme materials, badges and also goes towards the heating, lighting and maintenance of the building. It is still payable even if a member does not attend a Troop Night.

What do Scouts do?

Scouts have a lot of fun, learn lots of Skills for Life and take part in adventurous activities. They have the chance to gain badges and awards in recognition of the effort made by each youngster at their own level of development and understanding. The programme includes a wide selection of activities with the emphasis on the outdoors.

All of our meetings are ran by trained and experienced leaders who are supported by a team of skills instructors and helpers. Also, all of our Adult Volunteers are vetted by an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

What do Scouts wear?

Scout Uniform Photo

As with the other sections of 1st Bedworth, Scouts wear a uniform to their troop night and to some other activities:

  • A smart teal green coloured shirt
  • Royal blue necka’
  • Black, navy blue or dark grey trousers
  • Black, navy blue, or dark grey socks
  • Black boots or shoes

The shirt is available from us and costs £20.00. Their necka’ is presented free when the Scout is invested. Most Scouts wear their school trousers and shoes with their uniform.

What’s after Scouts?

Once Scouts turn 14 years old they should start moving up to Explorers, the next Section (age group) to continue learning Skills for Life.
