Easter Challenge

On Good Friday All Saints Church will  be doing an Easter Trail around the grounds of church, 11am-2pm.

There will be stations with a painting and QR code that takes you to a web page telling different parts of Easter story in an interactive way. This is COVID friendly as it is all outside and people can be staggered. There will also be an Easter Egg hunt.

For Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers

1st Bedworth Scouts has been invited to be part of this event by helping to tell part of the Easter story. The part we will be telling is:

  • Crowning (Hail King of the Jews!) –  bullying/mocking

The theme is about Jesus being bullied/mocked but also about bullying in general.

You could do a drawing, painting, poem, sculpture, lego model or whatever inspires you as you think about what happened. You can put your name on it or be anonymous. All you would then need to do is take a photo and sent it to Ann-marie at [email protected]

The entries need to be in by 22nd March so it can be turned into a video.

Here is the reading telling us about this part of the story and some ideas around the theme of bullying.

Bible Reading Mark 15: 16-19

16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. 18 And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.

Jesus was treated very badly by the soldiers. They hit him, called him names and made fun of him. They made a crown out of thorns and put it on his head. It would have scratched him and been very uncomfortable. Jesus puts himself in the place of human suffering. He knows what it is like to be bullied for who other people say you are. The soldiers did not know anything about Jesus, and yet they followed the behaviour of the people they looked up to and bullied him.

  • Have you ever been bullied or been made fun of by someone else?
  • How did it make you feel?
  • Have you ever joined in with bullying, making fun of somebody or been a bully?
  • Why did you feel that you needed to do that?
  • Where can someone go to get help when being bullied?

Remember to treat other people as you would like to be treated.
