Remembrance Day Parade 2021
Remembrance Day Parade 2021
Posted on 9th October 2021 | Updated on 7th November 2021 at 11:36 am
Date & time
14th November 2021 10:00 am to 12:30 pm
Location
When and where
We’re meeting at the Scout Hut at 10am. The hut will be open from 9:45am.
For those attending Church, pick up at 12:30pm from the front of Bedworth Ex Servicemens Social Club.
The plan
We’ll be parading from the Bedworth Ex Servicemens Social Club to the Cenotaph. We will then be walking to Church for the service. After the service we will then be parading back to Bedworth Ex Servicemens Social Club.
In Church
Usually it is very busy inside the church on Remembrance Day, therefore it will be a challenge to maintain social distancing while in the service.
While we would like to encourage everybody to attend the church service, if you/your youngster does not feel comfortable then please let us know that you’ll be collecting them after the Cenotaph.
All Scouts, Explorers and Adults must wear a face covering inside the church unless they are medically exempt.
Uniform
Full & correct uniform must be worn and please make an extra special effort to ensure that uniforms are complete and especially smart. Beavers need to wear full & correct uniform including black, navy blue or dark grey ‘school’ trousers and plain black footwear. It is likely to be cold and as we will only be wearing coats if it is raining, it’s important therefore to wear extra layers of clothing under the uniform. Gloves can be worn if they are dark coloured.
Everyone is asked to wear a poppy.
Beavers & anybody not attending the church service
Pick up will be at 11:15am-ish from the Cenotaph.

25th World Scout Jamboree – South Korea
25th World Scout Jamboree – South Korea
Posted on 18th September 2021 | Updated on 9th October 2021 at 5:41 pm
Location
In 2023 in SaeManGeum Jeollabuk-do, Korea, thousands of Scouts will gather for the 25th World Scout Jamboree. Warwickshire plan to send 45 older Scouts and Explorers. The deadline for applications being received is strictly 9pm on 3rd November.
If you were born between 22/07/05 and 31/07/09 you could be one of the 45 Scouts from Warwickshire who will join with thousands of Scouts from all over the world for the 25th World Scout Jamboree being held in South Korea during the first two weeks of August in 2023.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The cost of this jamboree has not yet been fixed, but purely as a guide the cost of the last jamboree held in the U.S.A. was £3550.
The cost shouldn’t be a bar though to any Scout who wants to take part. There are various funding sources to help with costs and 1st Bedworth will support you with fundraising if your are lucky enough to be selected for the Warwickshire Contingent. If you would like to know what it is like to take part on a World Jamboree then speak to Jess B or Zara Richards who attended the last jamboree in the U.S.A.
About the Jamboree
The Jamboree will take place from 1 – 12 August 2023. All UK participants will take part in pre/post event experiences around those dates too. You will be away for about 3 weeks in total.
The extensive programme will include:
- adventurous activities in the mountains and rivers near SaeManGeum,
- understanding sustainable development
- responding to natural disasters and global emergencies
- art and culture
- traditional scouting skills.
What will I get out of the Jamboree?
Many people who have been to previous World Scout Jamborees – whether adults or young people – happily talk about a ‘life changing experience’. You will see new things, meet new people, be immersed in the true worldwide family of Scouts. One of the UK Contingent objectives is to ensure everyone who is part of the journey grows as a person and recognises that change – bringing back new skills and ideas to make a lasting impression on their local scouting and community.
Want to know more? Join a roadshow!
Virtual roadshows are loaded with information about the Jamboree, and are being held on Zoom at 8pm on:
- Tuesday 19 October
- Wednesday 20 October
- Thursday 21 October
To register email [email protected] and put your preferred date(s) in the header. Parents and guardians welcome too. You will receive joining instructions the day before the event.
The deadline for applications being received is strictly 9pm on 3rd November.
Successful applicants will be invited to a selection event. You will be allocated a place on either Saturday 20 November or Sunday 21 November. The all day event will take place at Castle Farm in Kenilworth.
Q & A
Who can apply?
Older Scouts and Explorers can apply. Participants must be aged between 14 and 17 in July 2023 (born between 22 July 2005 and 31 July 2009).
What type of participants are we looking for?We are not looking for the ‘best’ Scouts or Explorer Scouts. We are looking for young people who will be able to get the most out of the experience.
How much will it cost?
Fees have not yet been announced. The fee for North America was £3550. We are expecting a ’not more than’ fee to be published later this year, and no absolute commitment (only a good intention) is required from you before this figure is confirmed.
Money shouldn’t be a barrier to anyone wanting to apply. If this is a concern, have a chat with the unit leaders who should be able to help you identify funding sources. Some of Warwickshire’s participants for the 24th World Scout Jamboree managed to fundraise the entire £3550!
How do I apply?
Go to https:// warwickshirescouts.org.uk/international/wsj/participants/ and Fill out the online application form using the big purple ‘Apply’ buttons on the page.
I have a medical condition, can I still apply?
In short, yes! Warwickshire are looking to send the most diverse and inclusive contingent yet to the jamboree.
We will keep this activity updated with the latest information.

Location
Nuneaton District Scouts are organising an international experience for Scouts and Explorers to Normandy, France, running from May 28th to June 3rd, 2023. The trip will be over 7 days / 6 nights.
Operation Overlord was the codename for the Battle of Normandy, the Allied operation that launched the successful invasion of German-occupied Western Europe during World War II. The operation was launched on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy landings.
A haven of rugged coastlines, maritime towns and historic treasures, a trip to Normandy encapsulates everything that is special about rural France. Known for its history, the region’s long sweep of beaches and pastoral villages make it even more endearing. Get to grips with the local lingo amongst the lively shops and enjoy a taste of life ‘à la française’. You will be able to pick up some new vocabulary at a traditional market, then soak up Normandy’s D-Day history and walk in the footsteps of heroes.
And if that was not enough, we will have a full day in Disney Land Paris.
The Cost is confirmed at £615, with a non-returnable deposit of £150 to hold your place.
We will then invite members to a briefing where we will then outline the trip in full.

Subs payments
Posted on 11th February 2019 | Updated on 6th May 2024 at 12:16 pm Print this page
We are currently not able to accept any cash payments. Our preferred method of payments are via bank (BACS) transfer. If you cannot do a bank transfer we do have an alternative cash free method available if necessary.
We are now accepting subs payments by BACS/standing order. If you would like to pay subs by BACS/standing order it must be paid in advance and we would suggest a payment of £13 per month. This will keep your payments on track, as with the weeks we are closed it will average out over the course of the year.
To set up to pay this way please put SUBS and your child’s name in the payment reference and email Luke at [email protected] to say that a payment has been made. We do still ask that your youngster checks in at the start of the evening, so that our fire checklist and attendance register is correct.
Activity payments
You can also pay for activities and camps in this way. Put the reference as the activity name and your child’s name and then email Luke once the payment has been made.
