Why volunteering is #GoodForYou
All of our activities are run entirely by volunteers, who might join us because they want to:
Try something new
Make friends
Spend time with their children or gain experience working with young people
Do something good for their community and themselves
Keep their bodies and brains active and happy – whether that’s by scaling mountains, sharing skills or serving tea
All of this ends up making a huge difference to young people’s lives – gifting them with skills for life, and learning new skills along the way.
We are looking for new volunteers to help us run our Scout Group and provide great experiences for our members. 1st Bedworth Scouts can only be run by the community and we need more volunteers to help run fun activities. Flexible volunteering is at our core.
Adult volunteers
We are always on the look out for suitable adults of any age from 18 years to 118 years to help us in providing activities, equipment or facilities for our young people. There are opportunities to suit everyone – from people who can only commit an hour every month or so – to those of you who have a few hours a week to commit.

Do more. Share more. Be more.
1st Bedworth is a dynamic Scout Group that helps over 140 young people enjoy fun and adventures while developing skills for life. With Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers our volunteer team is always kept busy and open to new members joining the team. Here are just some of things you could help us with and make all the difference.
Well, so do we! Do you want the chance to go canoeing, climbing or camping? Then why not come and have a go and lend us your hands. We need support running our sessions whether that’s canoeing or a games night.
All you need is enthusiasm, empathy and a good sense of humour. Everything else we can teach you.
Are you practical and an organiser? Could you help us keep our camping and activity equipment ready for action? We need people like you to support our leadership team in making memories that will last for a lifetime.
Young people love to build dens. But it’s not just about how much fun they have, or the amazing memories they make. They’re learning to work together, think for themselves and play their part. Scouts prepares young people with skills for life. As a helper with Scouts you can use your skills to help young people find theirs.
Can you make our Scout Hut sparkle, or are you handy with DIY to help keep our Scout Hut maintained so that it’s ready for another action packed week of activities?
Believe it or not, you don’t have to work with young people to be a volunteer in Scouting.
We need help with the planning and administration at Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers. Things like organising trips and outings, making telephone calls and keeping records of who have which badges.
It’s a vital job that means that adults working with our youngsters have more time to teach skills for life. If you could give a few hours a month please get in touch today.
Are you a natural organiser? Do you know what’s happening, not just next week, but next month and year too? Is your electronic diary always perfectly in sync? If this sounds like you, then we’d love you to consider supporting us as Group Secretary. A great communicator, team player and problem solver, you’ll be as good a listener as you are at taking accurate minutes and reminding us of our rules.
We’re only able to help young people step up, play their part and gain great skills when our groups are well managed and run. A Group Secretary is absolutely essential to this, which is why, as one of our trustees, you will be responsible, supportive and have our best interest at heart at all times. In return you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping us prepare so many more young people for the future.
Would you like the chance to canoe, climb and make bird boxes while improving your CV? As a Section Assistant at 1st Bedworth Scouts you will do all of this and more, using your current skills and learning new ones.
We need fun, committed people to support young people, help run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will be helping plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards.
Enthusiasm, empathy with young people and a sense of humour as a must. But we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and support you need.
