Activities for week commencing Monday 8th March

All of our Sections are running virtual meetings again this week! Explorers will be meeting every other week and don’t have a meeting this week. These meetings will be ran by your usual Leaders, at the usual time and we’re going to make them as fun and adventurous as possible!

This week Beavers will be making toilet roll tube bird feeders. Here’s what you’ll need this week:

  • A cardboard tube (a kitchen roll is perfect)
  • Two long sticks or skewers
  • Some lard or suet (or vegetable suet)
  • Birdseed, spread out on a plate or tray
  • A piece of string

Read the Beavers newsletter for March to see what you need for the rest of the month.

This week the Cubs are going to be learning a bit of Tai Chi from a professional instructor.

Don’t forget about last week’s challenge to make a bird feeder and to be as creative as possible. If you snap a pic and send it to us, we will enter it into a competition on Facebook and the winner will get a £5 Amazon gift voucher.

Read more about what we are doing, and what we have planned for the rest of March in our Cubs March Newsletter

We were very impressed with the hot air balloons that you made on Wednesday. It was not as easy as it first looked and you all did very well and have earned ‘Lockdown Challenge Badge’ points . We challenge all Scouts who were not on the virtual meeting to also have a go making a hot air balloon and send us pictures to earn your ‘Lockdown Challenge Badge’ points.

At this Wednesday’s virtual meeting we will be working on the first part of the International Activity Badge. You can also complete this badge in your own time without attending the virtual meeting. Just follow the instructions on the newsletter.

This week’s fun challenge is set by Woody and is in two parts, so if you do both parts you can earn double points for your Lockdown Challenge badge.

The first part is to invent a “Lockdown Super Hero”

Give your superhero a suitable name and decide what special powers your lockdown super hero will have.

The second part to double your points is to design a costume for your super hero and either draw it or dress up as your super hero and send us a photo. Don’t forget the leader who sets the challenge has got to do it as well. Can you be crazier than Woody? I reckon you may all find that a real challenge!

Please read the March newsletter to learn how you can earn your ‘Lockdown Badge’. You have March & April to earn this badge. You can earn this badge without joining in the Virtual Meetings if you wish. You will be able to wear this badge on your uniform and it will only be available to members of 1st Bedworth who earn it in the next two months.

Read the Scouts newsletter for March to see what you need for the rest of the month.
