Here is a chance to earn a badge that you will be able to wear on your uniform and will only be available to members of 1st Bedworth. It will be a unique ‘one off’ badge. It will show everyone that you have been an active Scout during lockdown.

Scout Meetings in March

Earn your exclusive ‘Lockdown’ badge

Here is a chance to earn a badge that you will be able to wear on your uniform and will only be available to members of 1st Bedworth. It will be a unique ‘one off’ badge. It will show everyone that you have been an active Scout during lockdown.

To earn this badge you need to gain 60 points in total during the next two months. See below how you can earn this badge.

Good Turn – Complete a good turn during the week . Get an adult to tell us about it. You can earn points for one good turn a week, each week’s good turn must be different from every previous good turn you have done – 2 points per good turn

Pass an Activity Badge – Complete all of the requirements of an Activity Badge – 5 points per badge completed

Pass a sections of a Challenge Badge – Complete one requirement for any Challenge Badge – 2 points for each requirement passed

Design a ‘Lockdown’ Badge – Design an appropriate badge – Up to 5 points depending on how good the badge looks and how appropriate it is

Attending a Virtual Meeting – For each Virtual Meeting you attend 1 point if you keep your camera on and use your microphone to speak at least once during the meeting 1 bonus point

Wear Your Uniform – Wear you full uniform and ‘Pass Inspection’ You can do this once in March & once in April. Either wear your full uniform on a virtual meeting or send us a full body photo of you wearing uniform to us. Up to 5 points each month depending on how smart you are

Leaders Challenge – Read your weekly email each week. In the email will be a fun challenge set by a leader. Complete the challenge to earn 5 points

3rd March – Hot Air Balloon and Alphabet Exercise Challenge

For the Hot Air Balloon challenge you will need:

  • Sticky Tape
  • Toilet Roll Tube
  • Black Bin Bag
  • Hairdryer

After that, we’re going to be doing an Alphabet Exercise challenge

10th March – International Badge – Week 1

To earn this Badge you can either take part in the two Scout meetings on 10th and 17th March or you can complete the four projects below and email the results to [email protected] or send it by post to:

Project 1

Learn a little about Scouting around the world. Do some research and complete the International Scouting Quiz Sheet.

Project 2

Learn how to introduce yourself and some simple phrases in three other languages. Choose 3 from the Everyday Phrases Sheet. Learn and practice these phrases. When you have done this hand the Phrases Sheet to an adult and ask them to test you. When your adult is happy that you have learnt them ask them to write and sign a short note saying how well you have done.

Project 3

Origami is an important part of Japanese Culture. Make the Twirling Bird following the instructions on the Origami Sheet. Take some pictures of the finished twirling bird including a picture of it ‘in flight’.

Project 4

Choose any country that has Scouts other than the U.K. Do some research and then come up with a list of:

  1. 5 things that are the same or very nearly the same to British Scouting
  2. 5 things that are very different to British Scouting

17th March – International Badge – Week 2

This week we’ll be continuing the International badge.

22nd March – Staying safe online and bullying

Using the internet safely and creatively

Complete the online safety quiz (the answers are at the end but try and complete it yourself before checking!)

29th March – Digital Citizen – Stage 1 & 2

For part of our skills challenge award and for the Digital Citizen activity badge we are going to look at internet safety and how to create webpages.

Aims:

  • Show how to use social media or the internet in a creative and safe way.
  • Explain why it’s important to use them safely.
  • Use your creative ability to produce something that promotes a Scouting activity or an event.
